Don’t be alarmed - the video might save your life

Up to 38,000 homes across Herts do not have a working smoking alarm.

That is why Herts County Council has produced a new video on how and where to install one in your home.

Roy Wilsher, director of community protection and chief fire officer at Hertfordshire County Council, said: “The best way you can protect yourself and your home from fire is by having a working smoke alarm, properly installed in the right location, on every level of your house.

“We’ve got guidance on the best smoke alarms to buy and how to install them on our website but we can also offer advice with our free home fire safety visits and supply fire alarms for the hard of hearing where appropriate.”

Anyone wishing to book a free home visit should visit www.hertsdirect.org/firesafety or call 0300 123 4046.
