The world’s biggest annual fundraising swim is back in April, and swimmers all over the UK are being encouraged to jump into a participating pool and raise funds for Marie Curie, the UK charity for people with a terminal illness.

Sportspace Hemel is hosting the Swimathon from 6.30pm to 9.30pm on Friday April 7 and from 9am to noon on Saturday April 8.

Swimathon celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Since its launch in 1988, nearly 700,000 people have taken part, raising £46 million.

Swimmers can challenge themselves to the 5k, 2.5k or 1.5k Individual, or Team 5k or 1.5k distances.

Swimathon president Duncan Goodhew said: “This year, Swimathon again provides a fantastic opportunity to bring together swimmers of all ages and abilities to raise vital funds for Marie Curie to continue their work.”
