The outdoor club has an 0 gauge layout consisting of nine stations on a eighth of a mile loop of double track, which will be in operation all afternoon.

There will also be many live steam engines running on the 16mm garden line which now extends to almost 200 yards and must be one of the largest in the country.

The attraction of live steam has meant that the Open Days have become very popular in recent years for model railway enthusiasts of all ages.

Brambleton Model Railway Club began life as an unofficial boys club in 1947 before forming as the Brambleton Model Railway Club in 1956.

The grounds are very easy to find – driving north out of Harpenden on the A1081 towards Luton you pass under the railway bridge for the disused line to Hemel Hempstead (the Nickey Line).

Immediately after the bridge turn right and follow the signs to the marshalled car park.
