Detective accused over handling of rape inquiries denies charges

A detective accused of six counts of misconduct in a public office has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Former Met Police Det Con CarlRyan, 34, of Cemmaes Court Road, Hemel Hempstead, appeared at Southwark Crown Court this morning to deny allegations that he wilfully misconducted himself in relation to the way he handled rape and sex assault investigations.

Ryan was sacked from the force following an investigation into his conduct between 2010 and 2012 by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

His trial has been set for November 23 next year.
