Delays on train services to the capital disrupt commuters

Commuters to and from the capital face a long journey home this evening as signalling problems on the line into London Euston are causing delays.

The problem affects all routes to and from London Euston because of the failure at Bushey, further south on the track from Dacorum stations Tring, Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead, Apsley and Kings Langley.

A National Rail spokesman said: “Signalling problems between London Euston and Bushey are causing delays of up to 90 minutes to trains between London Euston and Watford Junction.

“There is no firm estimate yet of how long disruption will last but it is likely to continue until at least 7pm.”

London Midland passengers may use Chiltern Railways, CrossCountry, East Midlands Trains and First Great Western services on reasonable routes, while London Overground customers are permitted to use Chiltern Railways, First Capital Connect, First Great Western, London Midland, London Underground and Southern services on reasonable routes.

Southern Rail tickets are being accepted by London Midland, London Overground, and London Underground services while Virgin Trains passengers may use East Coast, East Midlands Trains, and London Midland services on reasonable routes.
