Dedicate a light to a lost loved one on the hospice’s Tree of Remembrance

There will be a illuminating ceremony on Sunday, December 7 at the Tree of Remembrance, which stands in the Northchurch grounds of the hospice.

Hospice director Dr Ros Taylor said: “As we approach Christmas, it’s a time when we celebrate, remember and give thanks for family and friends we have lost. We naturally reflect on memories of those no longer with us and it can be a very poignant time, evoking a whole range of emotions.

“Many people derive comfort from knowing that the lights on our Remembrance Tree symbolise a loved one and are shining brightly in their memory.”

Dad of two John Wootton is proud to be dedicating a light in memory of his wife Sharron, a former nurse and much-loved teaching assistant at Hemel Hempstead’s Aycliffe Drive Primary School, who died aged just 48 in February 2013.

“I want to give back to the hospice because the love and support they give is so important,” said John. “The support doesn’t end when you lose someone. It stretches far beyond that and for that I’ll always be grateful.”
