A weekend of celebration is being planned for November 27 to 30 to mark the big opening of The Odyssey Cinema in St Albans.

It is sister to Berkhamsted’s hugely successful Rex cinema, which opened in 2004 as a single-screen art deco cinema and sells out almost every night.

Opening celebrations at the London Road venue will start at 7pm on each of the four opening nights, which will mark the restoration with a surprise screening.

Invitations to those that have contributed to the restoration over the last five years have already been sent out and public tickets will go on sale at some stage after November 13.
