People will now be able to access a range of Dacorum Borough Council’s services at the touch of a button, from paying their council tax to applying for an allotment.

The new website, which will be launched as part of the council’s first Digital Dacorum week, has been designed to make it even better for those using smartphones or tablets, so they can access council services where and when they need to.

During the week, which runs from March 7 to 12, there will be the opportunity to access free computer training and internet skills courses.

They will also have access to free internet cafes and can get advice on using the internet on their tablet or smartphone.

Representatives from Dacorum Borough Council will also be in Hemel town centre on Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12 to answer questions about the new website and offer shoppers the chance to win a Kindle Fire.

Digital Dacorum week has been launched in partnership with Tesco, Three Mobile, Osbourne, Dacorum Communities for Learning, South Hill Centre, Dacorum Look No Further and Local Digital.

Councillor Neil Harden, portfolio holder for residents and corporate services, said: “This is a great opportunity for our residents to learn some digital skills for free. As more and more of our lives become digital- with more people communicating on social media, jobs being advertised online and online retailers offering a wider range than traditional stores- we want everyone to take advantage of being able to get online.

“We want to thank all our partners for working with us to make Digital Dacorum Week possible and give our residents the chance to get digital.”
