Police helicopter alarms residents as it hunted two men seen breaking into cars in Hemel

Residents from Grovehill in Hemel Hempstead informed The Hemel Gazette that they were awoken by the sound of a low flying helicopter last weekend and were concerned at what was happening in their community.

One resident wrote: “At approximately 2am, a helicopter has been flying overhead for sometime.”

We contacted Herts police, and a spokesperson said: “Police were called at just before 2am on Monday (13 April) to reports of two men trying to gain access to vehicles on Lomond Road, Hemel Hempstead.

“Officers, including the police helicopter and dog unit, attended and searched the area. No offenders were located and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
