Police appeal for witnesses after series of Tring burglaries where cars and medical equipment were stolen
The four offences happened between May 27 and May 31
Detectives investigating a series of four burglaries in Tring are appealing for information and witnesses, and urging residents to be vigilant.
The spate of burglaries took place between May 27 and 31 and saw cars and medical equipment taken.
The first two offences happened in Hunters Close sometime overnight between 8.45pm on Thursday 27 May and 7.30am on Friday 28 May.
In the first offence, it is believed offenders gained entry to a property and stole the keys to a red Mercedes GLA, which they then drove away. The crime reference is 41/39621/21.
In the second offence, offenders gained entry to a property where they stole medical equipment, the victim’s wallet and keys to a silver Volkswagen Golf, which they then drove
away. The crime reference is 41/39625/21.
The third offence also happened in Hunters Close, this time between 4am and 4.30am on Monday 31 May. The victim was woken to the sound of their dog barking, before they heard
the front door of their property close. They found that a set of keys had been taken, but their vehicle had not been stolen. The crime reference is 41/40436/21.
The fourth offence happened in nearby Grove Gardens, between 1.30am and 5am on Monday 31 May. Offenders gained access to a property before taking keys to the victim’s
silver Mercedes and driving it away. The crime reference is 41/40440/21.
Detective Constable Carina Ng, from the Dacorum Local Crime Unit, said: “Firstly, we would like to reassure residents of Tring that we are stepping up our proactive patrols in response
to these offences.
“We have been carrying out extensive investigations, including house to house enquiries and reviews of CCTV footage, since these reports were made to us, and we are treating the
offences as linked.
"One of the stolen vehicles has subsequently been recovered in north London and seized as part of the investigation.
“We know many people now have doorbell cameras or CCTV systems fitted to their properties, so if you live near to Hunters Close or Grove Gardens we would be grateful if you could review your footage in the relevant time frames. If you think you have captured anything suspicious, please contact us straight away.
“If you have recently witnessed any unusual activity in the vicinity of Hunters Close or Grove Gardens and have not yet spoken to police, please get in touch.
“In addition, if you witness any suspicious activity or you think a crime may be in progress, always dial 999. Though it is not open to the public, Tring police station is a base for officers
from our intervention team (those who respond to urgent calls from the public) as well as our Safer Neighbourhood Team, so a 999 call gives us the very best opportunity to reach
that location as quickly as possible, and detain anyone who may be committing offences.”
