Man in his 30s arrested after series of arsons in Hemel Hempstead

Detectives have launched an investigation following a series of arsons in Hemel Hempstead.

Between 11.45pm on Tuesday, July 21, and and 12.30am on July 22, eight separate fires were started in the Grovehill area.

A fence, a wooden pallet, two wheelie bins, plastic sheeting covering a vehicle, the contents of two skips and a plant pot were among the objects targeted.

No one was injured but damage was caused.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: "Enquiries are continuing at this time and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dacorum Local Crime Unit.

"A 30-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead has been arrested in connection with the fires and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue."

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fence on fire in Dunlin Road, at 12.10am on July 22, and nine minutes later they were called to a skip fire in Washington Avenue.
