Police are investigating after an elderly man had a large quantity of cash stolen from him during a distraction burglary in Hemel Hempstead on Wednesday, September 23.

At around 1.30pm, the offender presented himself to the victim, entering the property on Oldhouse Road, and claiming that he owed the victim a refund for some previous gardening work.

The offender stated that he would get the money to the victim in a few days.

When the offender left, the victim – a man in his eighties - realised that a large quantity of cash had been taken.

The suspect is described as old, quite tall, and with dark hair.

It is believed that a second offender may have also been involved.
