Council take home from Hemel criminal

Council chiefs have taken possession of a burglar's home as part of their zero tolerance approach to Class A drugs.

Mr Paul Whetter, previously of 78 Lime Walk, Hemel Hempstead, committed burglary near his then-home in March 2015. The stolen property was later found at his address.

The council and police then received reports of anti-social behaviour and raised his home, finding Class A drugs.

Under new legislation the council were able to use the two offences as grounds to claim mandatory possession of the property, which was granted last week at Watford County Court.
