Complaints up for ambulance service

The number of people complaining about the region's ambulance service rose by more than 10 per cent over the last year.

Nearly 5,000 people took part in patient experience surveys after using the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) between April and February.

This included 1,129 
responses for the 999 service, and 2,944 surveys returned for patient transport service users.

But while there was 
a 4.32 per cent increase in 
the number of service-users sending praise, more than double that number criticised the service.

Tracy Nicholls, EEAST’s head of clinical quality, said: “Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to let us know what they thought about the service they received.

“It gives us a really good idea of where we are on the scale of giving excellent patient care, and some of the comments we receive are very encouraging.”
