The colour purple is just the ticket for new shop

Paul Monks, of Chaulden, Hemel Hempstead, set up Purple Menswear in Harpenden in 2009 and is due to open his 
second store at 283 Berkhamsted High Street this month.

Mr Monks – who lives with wife Lauren and their six-year-old son Preston – prides himself on the independent business’s made-to-measure tailoring service and the shop has scooped several awards, including the Hertfordshire Business Awards Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2014.

Lauren, who works in accountancy but remains very active in the business at the weekends, said her husband has always had his eye on Berkhamsted as a potential new location.

The mum-of-one said: “When we decided to look for a location to open our first store, we knew we wanted to be in a market town with a strong local shopping community and Harpenden fitted this perfectly.

“It was always our plan to open our second store in Berkhamsted as it has a very similar feel to Harpenden, so when the right unit came along we jumped at it.”

“Our client base varies from a 20-year-old man buying a pair of jeans and a T-shirt for a night out all the way to a 45+ man buying smarter clothes and suiting for work.

“Our made-to-measure suits have always been one of our unique selling points as they are all made in Europe.”

Purple Menswear stocks brands such as Hugo Boss, Armani Jeans and Hacket.
