Less than two years after reopening to scouting, 1st Gadebridge is proving so popular that it’s had to rehome eight of its beavers to the recently opened second colony.
Back in September 2013 Hemel Hempstead District Scouts relaunched the group after a dry spell of a couple of years when leaders couldn’t be found.
From the relaunch, with only a few beavers, the group has grown continuously.
A cub pack was started not long after the relaunch and the beaver colony it began with started to fill up quickly and soon had a waiting list.
With new leaders organised, another Beaver colony was started this term and the new Beavers made their promise to scouting this week.
The scouts in Hemel Hempstead have racked up an amazing 11,659 nights away in the last two years and there’s now over 1,000 young people Scouting in the district each week.
