The lucky winner of a meal for four on the opening night of Hemel Hempstead’s new Chiquito restaurant has been revealed.
The Gazette teamed up with Chiquito to celebrate its arrival in Hemel Hempstead’s Jarman Park by offering one lucky winner a meal for four people on opening night next Tuesday (December 30).
The competition saw an unprecedented number of entries with more than 500 people correctly answering the question: ‘What food is Chiquito famous for?’ before last night’s (midnight Monday December 22) deadline.
The answer was of course B) Mexican and the winner, chosen at random, is Lianne Coundon of Hemel Hempstead. Thanks to everyone who entered.
Chiquito promises to bring a ‘new Tex-Mex flavour’ to the town and in the process create 50 local jobs when it opens next week.
A spokesman for the chain said food lovers in Hemel will be able to enjoy a menu featuring dishes such as sizzling fajitas, juicy prime beef burgers, loaded nachos, packed burritos, mango glazed cod and Mexican paella.
The restaurant will also boast an extensive drinks menu to sample with a wide range of cocktails, tequilas, beers and soft drink options including fruity mocktails.
Phillip Snowden, general manager, said: “We are really excited to be bringing authentic Tex-Mex spirit to the area. Locals can enjoy an energetic, lively and uplifting experience.
“We’d love to see you for get-togethers with friends, a family meal or you can simple sit and enjoy the Latin flair at our bar, with our fantastic cocktail menu.”
Nationwide, Chiquito has 81 restaurants with plans to open further restaurants in 2015.
