Managing director Andrew Jackson handed over the cheque at an evening reception at the brewery earlier this month.

Andrew said: “The museum is an extremely important one for the county because de Havilland was at the forefront of aviation development and a major employer in the area.”

In a year-long promotion in 2016, the brewery developed a special beer for each month, naming each one after the many aeroplanes designed and built by de Havilland over its seven decades at its Hatfield base, including Mosquito, Chipmunk, Tiger Moth, Vampire and Sea Vixen.

Customers purchasing two litres of the special beer were entered into a draw each month to win a tour of the brewery and the museum.

Then all 12 monthly winners’ names were put into a final draw to win a flight for two in a de Havilland Rapide passenger bi-plane.

The winner was Julian Tunks, of Pitstone.
