Check into free fun palace

The Old Town Hall in Hemel Hempstead will transform into a Fun Palace from 11am through to 5pm on Sunday (October 4).

There will be paper making with Frogmore Paper Mill, graffit art, Junk Tank percussion and drumming sessions, Lego science with Dr Ben Still, children’s dance and drama workshops, dance and music performances and much more including live music in the cafe, a free screening of SpongeBob: Sponge Out of Water (U), origami, a smoothie bike and a CraftBomb around the building!

Fun Palaces were born from an idea by theatre director Joan Greenwood and architect Cedric Price back in the 60s and the ethos is to create and make together.

The programme highlights on Sunday start at 11am with the free screening of SpongeBob: Sponge Out of Water. Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

At the same time, Dr Ben Still will run Build Your Own Lego Universe, taking a tour of the origins of everything using Lego as a guide.

Children of all ages can embrace their youthfulness and build their own universe while learning about the physics that has shaped its creation.

Also at 11am, Junk Tank drumming and percussion sessions will take palce in the Cellar Club.

Throughout the day, from 11am - 5pm, there will be paper making in the Gallery Cafe, and the cafe will also be open for tea, coffee and light lunches, with live music, arts and crafts from, 1pm.

Proudly standing in the heart of the old town, the Old Town Hall has been a buzzing arts space since 1978.
