Can you spot a future Prime Minister? Youth election results revealed

These budding MPs certainly think so, as they have been voted to represent their districts in the Herts UK Youth Parliament.

Dacorum’s youth representative is 15-year-old Nicholas Gardner, a pupil at Hemel Hempstead’s John F Kennedy School. A total of 23 young people across the county took part in the elections, supported by counselling and careers service Youth Connexions Hertfordshire.

Schools and youth projects in 10 areas across Herts were encouraged to support their local candidates, before voting closed and the successful candidates were announced at County Hall by councillor Richard Roberts, cabinet memeber for Children’s Services.

The top five priority issues were also voted for during the election, which will form the mandate for the newly elected MYPs who will consult with young people across county to find out what they think of services already offered and what improvements they would like to see.

The results will then be collated, evaluated and published in the Herts1125 Hertfordshire Young People’s Manifesto 2015/16, which will be presented to senior Herts County Council officers in October.
