Calling all the '˜can-do' cadets

The group, which meets at the Hemel Hempstead School between 7pm and 9pm every other Thursday, is looking for teenagers aged 14-18 to sign up and play a vital role in the community.

Cadets engage with the public at community events and educate them on crime prevention, all while learning 
about the law and police 
procedures.

Their role is extremely varied and youngsters develop a wide range of skills while making friends, having fun and helping the local community.

Groups also do many 
exciting activities such as white-water rafting, weekend holidays and summer camps, court visits and foot patrol at local events.

Detective Constable 
Duncan Montague, who co-runs the group, said: “The role of a volunteer police cadet is highly rewarding and members develop a wide range of skills while having fun and making a positive contribution to their community.

“We hope that young people living in Dacorum will take this opportunity to join us.”

Doug Black, Chief Inspector for Dacorum said: “Volunteer Police Cadets play a vital role in supporting neighbourhood policing teams.

“I would encourage people to get involved and help make a difference to the community they live in through this great scheme.”

The cadet unit welcomes all young people, as long as they live in Dacorum (Hemel, Berkhamsted, Tring, Kings Langley and some surrounding villages).
