A utility company has apologised to its customers as a burst water main in Hemel Hempstead causes low pressure for homes in the town.

Affinity Water engineers are currently working to repair the damage on a 9inch main at the junction of Maylands Avenue with Swallowdale Lane, which is thought to have begun this morning.

So far 29 customers have reported a disruption to their water supply.

The work, which is expected to last until the end of the day, is being supported by Herts County Council highways officers who are helping control traffic on the stretch of road.

Delays are likely in the industrial area.

A spokesman for the company said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by a burst on a 9inch main on the junction of Maylands Avenue and Swallowdale Lane in Hemel Hempstead.

“Traffic management has been put in place to ensure the safety of commuters and our technicians working to fix the main.

“During this time, some customers may experience low water pressure.

“Traffic management will be removed once repairs are complete by the end of today.

“We would like to thank customers for their patience whilst we carry out these vital repairs.”
