Bring some light into lion-like Shadow’s life

A regal puss who believes he’s a lion in a tabby’s body is just one of many abandoned moggies in need of a loving – and servile – owner according to a Dacorum-based charity.

But you can forget King of the Jungle – majestic Shadow will be ruler of any household if he’s lucky enough to be adopted at Cats Protection’s annual rehoming show and fundraising day this Sunday.

Taking place from 11am to 3pm at the Pilgrim Cottage Cattery in Megg Lane, Chipperfield, the rehoming day is a chance to find a furr-ever home for Shadow and his cast-aside companions.

However, unlike some of the other purr-fect pussycats up for adoption, poor Shadow has been on the shelf for more than 18 months.

The 15 year old cat knows what he wants in life, as a charity spokesman said: “He wants a home where he can live in a manner to which he feels he should become accustomed.

“This will involve complete servitude on your part and he will signify approval of your conduct with gentle head-butts. As his name suggests he may follow you about, too.”

The rehoming day will also include black and black and white cats in the Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted branch of the charity’s care – which are often overlooked and sadly harder to home.
