Big day for new Jarman Fields complex as Chiquito officially opens

Chiquito promises to bring a ‘new Tex-Mex flavour’ to the town and has created 50 local jobs ahead of the opening night.

A pre-opening event for lucky guests was held yesterday evening as a trial run for the real event.

A Gazette-run competition to win a meal for four at the new eatery saw an unprecedented number of entries with more than 500 people correctly answering the question and the winner, chosen at random, was Lianne Coundon of Hemel Hempstead.

Lianne will join other diners at the restaurant’s official debut this evening.

A spokesman for the chain said food lovers in Hemel will be able to enjoy a menu featuring dishes such as sizzling fajitas, juicy prime beef burgers, loaded nachos, packed burritos, mango glazed cod and Mexican paella.

Nationwide, Chiquito has 81 restaurants with plans to open further restaurants in 2015.

The Hemel Hempstead unit will be open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 11pm and on Sundays from 9am to 10.30pm.

At the same complex, American diner Coast To Coast is set to open at the start of January.
