The painting shows the tree standing in all its glory, before it collapsed in a storm in 2014.

Entitled In Memory Of An Old Friend, the paintinghas been on display at the Ashridge Visitor Centre since last summer. A limited edition print run of the picture has been a success, with just six of the 25 prints remaining.

The original painting will form the centrepiece of a gala evening at Ashridge Golf Club at 7pm on Thursday February 18. Numbers 1, 2 and 3 from the limited print run will also be auctioned.

The evening includes a talk on the history of Ashridge, a look at how the veteran trees at Ashridge are managed today and a chance to meet the artist. Tickets are £15 from Ashridge Visitor Centre on 01442 851227.
