So far, he has helped over 30 companies to develop. One of Andy’s first customers, Short Stay MK, increased their turnover by 55 percent after working with Business Doctors and it is now set to hit the £1million mark.

Andy said: “Business Doctors’ strapline is: ‘We don’t just coach, we get on the pitch’.

“It really resonated with me from the start and I think it sums up my attitude to my customers.

“The franchise’s holistic and proactive approach to business support is what made it stand out for me. And I think it’s my holistic approach that makes me stand out amongst other franchisees.

“My experience within corporate, private equity and family-owned businesses makes me very flexible with the kinds of small and medium-sized businesses I can lend a hand to.”

Pip Wilkins, the BFA’s CEO, said: “With around 45,000 franchise-owned businesses in the UK, we’ve had to make some very tough choices to get down to 20 finalists.

“Selecting just a handful of exceptional business owners to go through is extremely
difficult. These are outstanding entrepreneurs that are leading the way in franchising and we’re set for an even more difficult task ahead in choosing the winners.”

Winners will be named at a black-tie ceremony on September 29 at Birmingham Town Hall.
