Attempted murder investigation launched after woman falls from block of flats

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman fell 30ft from a block of flats.

Police were called to Waterhouse Street in Hemel Hempstead in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, June 30) after reports of concern for a woman’s welfare.

The woman, in her 20s, was found to have serious injuries to her head, abdominals and arms and was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital in London for treatment.

Detective Chief Inspector Jerome Kent from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said: “It is believed the woman fell around 30 feet from a block of flats shortly before police were called and we are currently investigating the full circumstances of what happened prior to the woman falling.”

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident.

Det Ch Insp Kent said: “I would be keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened or has any information about the events leading up to this incident to please call the Herts Police non-emergency number 101.”

A scene guard remains in place.
