Another festival on its way to borough as FestHemel is launched

A core group of organisers have been campaigning to secure use of the Box Moor Trust land and have recently been approved to to host the festival at Bulbourne Moor on August 7 and 8 next year.

The team - made up of Luke Hinton, Roo Lee, Jane Tillotson and Peter Wright - all have a solid history of organising large-scale music events such as BerkoFest and BuryFields based in Chesham.

Luke, of Juicebox events, has grown up in Hemel Hempstead and has previously booked big-name acts such as the Holloways, The View and Friendly Fires for venues across Hertfordshire.

He said: “We are looking to add a bit more culture and entertainment to Hertfordshire’s largest town. Since the previous Music On The Moor festivals stopped in 2011 the people of Hemel have been crying out for a music festival. We’ve looked at how this could be possible and we are looking at bringing a calibre of acts as well as giving the opportunity to local talent to show what they can do.

“FestHemel will be an opportunity for the people from Hemel and the surrounding areas – and further afield!) – to enjoy themselves in a safe and friendly environment and enjoy a top quality live music and comedy festival. This will be an unmissable event and even at this early stage the response and messages of support has been incredible!”

FestHemel is designed to appeal to the whole family and will feature acts performing on a dance stage, main stage and an acoustic stage, while little ones can enjoy side attractions and workshops alongside musical sets.

The event will soon have tickets available for Friday and Saturday or joint tickets for both days. Prices are due to be announced after confirmation from local authorities but are promised to remain affordable.

Luke confirmed that bookings for the inaugural FestHemel are well under way while details cannot yet be released, the event that will feature a mix of local acts, national and international touring bands, high profile DJs and comedians.

He added: “If the festival proves successful, we hope it will become a regular event. For this to happen we need the support of the whole community.

We want to give Hemel Hempstead and the surrounding area a credible, fun and viable festival for all sections of the community to enjoy.”
