Amazon has announced that Sunday deliveries have grown by more than four times in the last year.
The online giant, which has a huge fulfilment centre in Hemel Hempstead, says Amazon Prime members, who receive unlimited one-day delivery on millions of items, can have their parcels delivered on Sunday at no additional charge.
The increase in Sunday deliveries has been made possible due to the introduction of Amazon Logistics, a platform that empowers independent local, regional and national delivery companies across the UK to deliver its parcels to customers seven days a week.
The delivery businesses range from small companies like S.A.B. Couriers and CTC Express to national carriers such as APLE.
The delivery firms are able to increase their capacity and grow their businesses using the Amazon Logistics platform.
“We’re excited that so many customers are taking advantage of Sunday delivery and that so many local and regional delivery companies continue to join the Amazon Logistics platform,” said Jamie Stephenson, UK director for Amazon Logistics.
“And this is just the beginning.”
