Powerful big screen entertainment menu in Hemel

An eclectic mix of movies including blockbusters, real life human drama, spies and love affairs is presented at the Old Town Hall in Hemel Hempstead over the summer. Hit movie Star Wars - The Force Awakens (12A) sees the galaxy facing a new threat 30 years after the death of the Galactic Empire. Now the evil comes from Kylo Ren and the First Order. A brave young duo, Finn and Rey, join forces with Han Solo (Harrison Ford) to find Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), the last of the Jedi Knights. Showing at 1pm Thursday May 19.

Untouchable starrring Omar Sy and Francois Cluzet.

Untouchable (15) is an irreverent, uplifting comedy, based on a true story and has broken box office records in its native France and across Europe. After he becomes a quadriplegic from a paragliding accident, an aristocrat hires a young man from the projects to be his caregiver. They first meet when intellectual Philippe is interviewing candidates for the position of his carer. Out of the blue, a rude man called Driss jumps the queue of candidates to ask Phillipe to sign his Social Security document to prove that he is seeking a job position so he can receive his unemployment benefit. But Philippe challenges Driss, offering him a trial period of one month to gain experience helping him. Then Driss can decide whether he would like to stay with him or not. Driss accepts the challenge and moves to the mansion, changing the lives of Phillipe and his employees. Showing at 7.30pm Wednesday May 25. This film is subtitled.

Bridge of Spies (12A) stars Tom Hanks as a lawyer recruited by the CIA to negotiate the freedom of a US pilot captured by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Showing at 7.30pm on Wednesday June 8 and at 2pm on Tuesday June 14.

The Dressmaker (12A) is set in 1950s Australia and tells the tale of talented dressmaker Tilly who returns to her tiny hometown to right wrongs from her past, tries to reconcile with her mother and starts to fall in love. Showing at 1pm on Thursday June 23.

Black Mass (15) starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Johnny Depp is the story of two brothers on different sides of the law in 1970s Boston. Showing at 7.30pm Wednesday June 29.
