George wants to complete 1000 laps of his back garden after being inspired by Captain Tom Moore

A boy from Hemel Hempstead is going to complete 1,000 laps of his back garden to raise money for the NHS.

George Quigley, from Chaulden, started doing the laps last week and is doing about 50 a day, he was inspired by Captain Tom Moore.

The five-year-old has already raised over £1,000 for NHS Charities Together.

Lisa, George's mum, said: "He read about Captain Tom Moore and it inspired him to do a similar fundraiser.

"He's only five so I said are you sure you want to do 1000 laps of the garden, it is a lot, but he said he did and wanted to help raise money for the NHS.

"He knows what's going on and he does the clapping on Thursday's, he appreciates what the doctors and nurses are doing and wants to thank them.

"He has been doing about 50 laps a day and started last week, he has been out there every day doing it and has 709 laps left to do."
