Shoppers were treated to a festive treat in Hemel Hempstead on Saturday as the town centre worked together to spread some Christmas cheer - although in a different way to previous years.

It was the first Saturday after the second national lockdown ended and shoppers were treated to some Christmas favourites from Heart Radio Live DJ's while shopping, and there was a wrapping station next to the Rainbow Stage with expert Christmas wrappers offering a free gift wrap service.

And it would not be Christmas in Hemel without an appearance from the famous land-train ‘Robbie’.

Ian Welland, Riverside centre manager said: "We’ve put a real smile on the face of the Town Centre once again with our popular land train and Heart FM wrapping service.

"Many thanks to all those who have made this possible."

There was lots of positive feedback from shoppers who enjoyed the town centre's Christmas celebrations, albeit on a smaller scale.

Lavinia Douglass, marketing manager at The Marlowes Shopping Centre said: “We were thrilled to be a part of the town wide HemelTogether@Christmas festivities.

"The day was a great success, seeing many shoppers get organised for Christmas with the Heart Angels on hand to wrap their Christmas shopping whilst playing some of our favourite Christmas songs!

"The Christmas land train also proved very popular, with families delighted to have the chance to ride around the town with their little ones.”
