Supporting Dacorum residents with food parcels

Dacorum Borough Council has delivered over 275 food parcels to residents in the borough during the coronavirus pandemic.

During the national lockdown, hundreds of vulnerable people shielding from coronavirus had to rely on deliveries of food until the programme ended at the start of August.

Many were shielding due to their age or an underlying health condition.

The parcels of aid include pasta, rice, bread, vegetables, tea and coffee, jam and fruit, along with other essentials.

The council also supported local charities Hospice of St Francis, Age Dacorum and The South Hill Centre with over 150 parcels during the same period.

Julie Banks, portfolio holder for community and regulatory services, said: “I am so proud of the work that the council has carried out over the last few months to keep our vulnerable residents safe and supported in their homes.

"The deliveries made a huge difference to these households and provided a vital lifeline for those who had no other support.”
