Coronavirus latest: Dacorum records 163 new cases in 24 hours

Dacorum has recorded 163 new positive Covid-19 cases today (January 8).

The total for the borough is now 5,461, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days is 700.4 per 100,000 population (the period represented is the 7 days ending January 3).

There have been 1,556 new cases in Hertfordshire, the total is now 50,207.

According to Public Health England there were 330 confirmed COVID-19 patients in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust on Tuesday, January 5, and 18 were on mechanical ventilation beds.

There have been 12 new deaths recorded in Dacorum, the total is 160, and there have been 47 new deaths in Hertfordshire, the total is now 1,326 - according to Public Health England (deaths within 28 days of positive test).

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 68,053 and now stands at 2,957,472. The number of deaths has risen by 1,325 to 79,833.

The estimated R number is 1 to 1.4 with a daily infection growth rate range of 0% to +6% as of 8 January.

As of January 3, 1,296,432 people in the UK had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19.

The figures for the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Wednesday, January 6, and 5pm on Thursday, January 7.

The figures come from the Government website which is available for the public to view here.With coronavirus (COVID-19) cases rising rapidly, the Government has announced a further period of national lockdown (Stay at Home), which came into force at midnight on Monday (4 January).
