Coronavirus latest: Dacorum records 126 new cases in 24 hours

Dacorum has recorded 126 new positive Covid-19 cases today (January 22).

The total for the borough is now 6,931, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days is 451 per 100,000 population (the period represented is the 7 days ending January 17).

There have been 943 new cases in Hertfordshire, the total is now 63,647.

According to Public Health England there were 302 confirmed COVID-19 patients in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust - which manages hospitals in Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans - on Tuesday, January 19, and 21 were on mechanical ventilation beds.

There have been six deaths recorded in Dacorum, the total is now 226, and there have been 55 new deaths in Hertfordshire, the total is now 1,766 - according to Public Health England (deaths within 28 days of positive test).

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 40,261 and now stands at 3,583,907. The number of deaths has risen by 1.401 to 95,981.

In the UK, as of January 21, 5,383,103 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 466,796 had received their second dose. ​

The figures for the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Wednesday, January 20, and 5pm on Thursday, January 21.

With coronavirus (COVID-19) cases rising rapidly in the UK, the Government announced a further period of national lockdown (Stay at Home), on Monday (4 January). The rules in England will be reviewed on 15 February.
