Students were unable to take their exams this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic with teachers instead predicting how they would have performed.

Headteacher Neil Hassell said: "We are really pleased that the results year eleven students here at The Hemel Hempstead School, and across England are receiving today, are those judged by their schools, the people who know them best.

"All of our students are right to be incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication and resilience.

"So too should the teachers and support staff who have guided, supported and encouraged them through an unprecedented period of change in education.

"Given the complexities of recent weeks we want to give students the very best chances at Sixth Form so we will, for internal and external candidates, be offering places on the basis of a Centre Assessed Grade or a Mock Examination Grade, whichever is higher."
