Coronavirus latest: here's how many new cases were recorded in Dacorum today

Dacorum has recorded just eight new positive Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours of data released this afternoon (March 23).

The total for the borough is now 8,380, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days has decreased from 34.9 per 100,000 population to 33.6 per 100,000 (the period represented is the 7 days ending March 18).

On March 16, the incidence rate was 47.2 per 100,000 population (the 7 days ending March 11).

There have been 66 new cases in Hertfordshire, the total is now 75,582.

Here's a daily breakdown of the figures in Dacorum for the last seven days:

> March 16 - 10 cases

> March 17 - 14 cases

> March 18 - eight cases

> March 19 - five cases

> March 20 - 10 cases

> March 21 - three cases

> March 22 - 13 cases.

According to Public Health England there were 42 confirmed COVID-19 patients in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust - which manages hospitals in Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans - on Tuesday, March 16, and 14 were on mechanical ventilation beds.

There have been no new Covid-related deaths recorded in Dacorum, the total is 318, and one new death was recorded in Hertfordshire, the total is 2,449 - according to Public Health England (deaths within 28 days of positive test).

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 5,379 and now stands at 4,307,304. The number of deaths has risen by 112 to 126,284.

The estimated R number is 0.6 to 0.9 with a daily infection growth rate range of -6% to -3% as of March 19.

As of March 22, in the UK, 28,327,873 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 2,363,684 had received their second dose.

The figures for the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Sunday, March 21, and 5pm on Monday, March 22.
