Police have reassured residents that all is well after a loud bang was heard in Berkhamsted yesterday evening (Wednesday).

Police were called at 2.49pm yesterday (Wednesday) to reports of a suspected World War Two bomb that had been found in the ground on Northchurch Common.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: "We attended the scene and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team were also called.

"We put a cordon in place and shortly after 5.30pm a controlled explosion was carried out with no further issues."
