Jaguar is offering petrolheads a lap to remember as it adds its most outrageous model to its fleet of “taxis” at one of the world’s most famous circuits.

The XE SV Project 8 with Track Pack becomes the latest Jaguar Race Taxi to offer passenger rides at the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

The Project 8 is based on the XE saloon but has been heavily modified to make the most extreme Jaguar ever. Its 592bhp 5.0-litre V8 can move it from rest to 60mph in just 3.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 200mph.

Last November it set a record lap time for four-door saloons of 7min 21.23sec.

Thrill-seekers will get a full demonstration of the Project 8’s eye-opening performance as Jaguar’s drivers take them on a lap of ‘The Green Hell’ at speeds in excess of 155mph. Passengers will also experience g-forces of more than 1.3g around the 12.9-mile, 73-turn circuit – up to 1.8g in the banked Karussell corner.

Phil Talboys, Jaguar Land Rover European engineering operations manager, said:“The XE SV Project 8 demonstrated its incredible mix of raw speed and dynamic precision by setting a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record last year. Now, visitors to this sensational circuit – which played a pivotal role in the development of the ultimate Jaguar XE – will get the chance to experience the full track capability of the world’s fastest four-door sedan.”

Engineers from Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations spent much of the Project 8’s development at the German circuit honing its on track behaviour. The result of their hard work was the fastest and most powerful production Jaguar ever and the saloon car lap record.

The two-seat Track Pack-equipped Project 8 Race Taxi joins the four-seat XJR575 Race Taxi as part of Jaguar’s Nurburgring fleet.

The £175 Jaguar Race Taxi experiences are available until the circuit closes in mid-November, and will be offered throughout the open season in 2019.
