Hertfordshire Mind Network receives £1,000 donation from Hemel Hempstead's Amazon team

The staff and volunteers at Hertfordshire Mind Network in Hertfordshire have received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Hemel Hempstead.

Hertfordshire Mind Network delivers essential mental health support by providing opportunities for individuals to access support to enable them to recover from or live with mental ill health.

The charity has a diverse range of services, with seven wellbeing centres and other venues across Hertfordshire.

Mark Keeney, site leader at Amazon in Hemel Hempstead, said: “The Amazon team in Hemel Hempstead recognises the important role played by Hertfordshire Mind Network in our community and we wanted to lend a helping hand with this donation.”

Hertfordshire Mind Network provides support to 5,000 people each year. The donation will allow Hertfordshire Mind Network to sustain its range of services which includes counselling, wellbeing courses, peer support, housing advice and employment support.

Caroline McGoohan, community fundraising manager, from Hertfordshire Mind Network, said: “Donations like these enable us to keep our seven well-being centres operating smoothly, allowing us to reach more people in our community who experience mental ill health.

"Thank you to Mark and his team at Amazon in Hemel Hempstead for this great support.”

This donation forms part of the ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Community donations is one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.

Amazon has joined a coalition of companies, universities, and research institutions to boost testing capacity for COVID-19. Amazon’s logistics network, along with Royal Mail, will deliver test kits to critical workers and diagnostic sites set up around the UK.

Amazon is also providing free online STEM resources to students in lower-income communities to enable learning to continue during school closures and is working with charity partner Magic Breakfast to ensure they can continue to provide free breakfast provisions to children in disadvantaged areas.
