Amazon set to create 80 new permanent jobs in Hemel Hempstead and 500 this Christmas - here’s how to apply

Amazon has announced it will create a further 7,000 UK jobs this year, in order to meet growing demand, and 80 of them will be in Hemel with a further 500 seasonal roles.

The fulfilment centre in Hemel Hempstead, which currently employs more than 500 people in permanent roles, will create a further 80 permanent roles by the end of 2020.

It is also hiring for 500 seasonal roles.

The delivery station in Hemel Hempstead will have increased its permanent headcount from around 80 at the beginning of 2020, to more than 150 by the end of the year.

Amazon says it is also looking for individuals wanting to turn free time into supplementary income, working to their own schedule to deliver Amazon packages for between £13 and £15 per hour.

With a total of 10,000 new jobs this year, Amazon’s permanent UK workforce will rise to more than 40,000.

Temporary workers will help to operate three pop-up parcel packing centres, which will open for the busy Christmas period.

The news comes after Tesco’s recent announcement that it would add 16,000 new roles following a surge in online demand.

Business Secretary Alok Sharma said: "While this has been a challenging time for many businesses, it is hugely encouraging to see Amazon creating 10,000 jobs in the UK this year.”
