Waterside lands top shows this spring

THEIR first birthday in the bag after a hugely successful first year The Waterside Theatre’s new spring season bursting at the seams with musicals, drama, dance, comedy, variety acts and music including, swoon, The Osmonds.

Saturday, 3rd December 2011, 8:00 am

There will be a sea of middle-aged women (me included) wearing silky scarves and Donny hats when the pop legends play for one night only on March 13. It will be Puppy Love all over again!

The New Year kicks off with the Olivier Award-winning Broadway and West End sensation, Legally Blonde, starring Ray Quinn, Les Dennis and Claire Sweeney. The writers of sell out sensation, Dreamboats and Petticoats, are back with a new ‘60s show, Save the Last Dance while audience favourite, The Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas, is back and the stunning South Pacific washes up in May.

For drama be heartbroken and heart-warmed by Alan Bennett’s The Lady in the Van. The National Theatre returns with the award winning actor Anthony Sher in the funny and fascinating Travelling Light or make a date with J B Priestley’s classic thriller, An Inspector Calls,

Fantastic dance comes from two beautiful ballet masterpieces, La Fille Mal Garde and Swan Lake, performed by the Russian State Ballet and Orchestra of Siberia,

girlie comedy comes from Girls Night with Gillian Taylforth or join Beverley Callard and the Hormonal Housewives as they battle against weight gain, weight loss, mood swings, wine and pms! For something spicier enjoy one of the Uk’s top male glamour groups with the Dreamboys’ Full Frontal Tour,

Kids can look forward to joining the Little Princess live on stage; Peppa Pig is in her Treasure Hunt and there’s the Little Big Club with all your favourites including Thomas the Tank Engine, Bob the Builder and Fireman Sam!

There’s comedy with with Pam Ayres, the controversial American Doug Stanhope, Irish/Australian superstar Jimeoin, TV fave Paul Merton and Mock the Week’s Stewart Francis.

Music comes from The Osmonds, The Searchers, Rumours of Fleetwood Mac, That’ll be the Day, Suggs, and Paul Carrack, X-Factor finalist Andy Abrahams and two classical concerts.
