Whether you’re a keen walker or you simply enjoy an occasional stroll in the summer sunshine, Ramblers Worldwide Holidays caters for everyone and the Lemsford-based company is offering you the chance to meet the team and to sample some Spanish hospitality at a special ‘Walk Fest’ weekend.

Ramblers Worldwide Holidays was founded in 1946 and for more than 30 years Mrs Kathy Cook from Newport Pagnell has been at the helm alongside fellow joint managing director Tony Lock.

While the company was founded shortly after the Second World War, it was Kathy’s love of walking that brought her into the business and she has helped create the success that is Ramblers Worldwide Holidays together with Tony while today they head a team of rambling enthusiasts who take like-minded people on holiday to all six continents.

And as if that were not enough, Ramblers Worldwide Holidays have now entered the winter wonderland market by introducing a selection of walks in the snow-covered scenery of countries like Andorra, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Switzerland and Turkey.

However on Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29 the company – which is located in the pretty village of Lemsford close to Welwyn Garden City – will feature Spain and its island territories as its theme.

Sponsored in conjunction with the Spanish Tourist Board, the Ramblers Holiday weekend will give visitors chance to say ‘Hola’ – the ‘h’ is always silent while ‘Ola’ means wave! – while taking a guided walk along the ‘Camino de Lemsford’ which translates as the banks of the beautiful River Lea close to the picturesque Brockett Hall estate.

‘Walk Fest’ takes place in the grounds of Lemsford village’s stunning watermill and for an adult entry fee of £6.50 (children under 16 are free as is car parking), you can enjoy a free paella meal and tapas plus a glass of a Spanish wine to wash it all down while listening to traditional flamenco music and learning about the culture of the Iberian Peninsula.

Among the invited guests will be jovial Conservative Party chairman Grant Shapps MP and the Mayor of Welwyn & Hatfield Borough Council, Councillor Howard Morgan, besides the London-based Spanish Ambassador for the UK.

Ramblers Worldwide Holidays’ ‘Walk Fest’ is open between 10am and 5pm each day but for more information or to book your place, call freephone on 0808 178 2879 or log onto www.ramblersholidays.co.uk
