Something for everyone as autumn season opens

To celebrate the newly refurbished Cellar Club, The Old Town Hall in Hemel Hempstead is opening its doors next Saturday (September 13) for live music, comedy, an animation workshop, children’s show Splosh and much more.

The Old Town Hall open day marks the start of a fantastic autumn programme of theatre, film, music, comedy and family shows at the town centre venue which includes new jazz in The Cellar Club and old favourites Screaming Blue Murder comedy club and Acoustic Café nights.

In the theatre, Roots and Wings presents Splosh, a family show for children aged three and over.

Join Claire, Sam and their silly Dad as they splish, splash and splosh around to their hearts content. Bring your wellies to be part of the fun! Older children and those nurturing their ‘inner child’ also welcome. 11am, £5.50, £4 Dacorum Card.

Also in the theatre is Qwiksteps Dance Workshops for five to 12 year olds.

Let Louise teach you a dance routine fit for performance in just one hour. Qwikstep 1: 1pm to 2pm Qwikstep 2: 2pm to 3pm £2 for a one-hour session.

The Gallery Café will be open for coffee, cake, light lunches and live music from Jamie Stungo at 12 noon and 2.30pm.

Under The Arches hosts face painting, balloon modelling, and much more.

Watch out for our strange masked characters who’ll be lending a helpful hand throughout the afternoon. Takes place from 11am to 4pm.

In the The Cellar Club there will be an animation workshop from Quirky Pictures. The workshop is for seven to 11 year olds to try their hands at a range of animation techniques.

Join animators Shaun and Kim and create your own characters and animation in just two hours. Why not animate the Tour of Britain cycle race? The workshops take place from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm. It is £5 for a two-hour session (numbers are limited to 12).

There will also be live music in the Cellar Club from As the Crow Flies. Their original music is inspired by folk, classical, blues and rock and runs from 6pm to 7.30pm, £8, £6 concession.

To finish things off, again in the Cellar Club, there will be lots of laughs with a Comedy Night featuring John Gordillo and others. Comedy Night runs from 8pm until late, £10, £8 concession.
