Paines Plough’s joint artistic director, James Grieve, directs Rachael and John Hollingworth in a two-hander about friends.

One of them went on the anti-war protest, shouted their lungs out, then got horrendously and staggeringly drunk. The other stayed at home, watched TV for a bit, and thought about the future.

An Intervention is the latest co-production from WPT and Paines Plough, the company behind last spring’s award-winning Jumpers for Goalposts.

Rachael last appeared at the theatre in a Bartlett adaptation, Medea, in 2012.

John Hollingworth returns to Watford following his role in Out of Joint’s Our Country’s Good in 2012.

An Intervention runs from April 16-May 3. For tickets call the box office 01923 225671 or visit www.watfordpalacetheatre.co.uk
