Opera stars come to village for an evening of arias

Up and coming soprano Demelza Stafford will be singing favourite opera arias by Mozart, Wagner and Puccini – along with some lighter works - in a concert on Saturday.

Well known to local audiences through appearances with Aylesbury and Tring Operas, Demelza will be joined by bass baritone Daniel Grice and accompanist Mark Packwood who is on the staff of the Royal Opera House.

The performance at St Lawrence Church, Bovingdon, will begin at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10 in advance (under 18s: £5) from the church or from Lily Rose Florists, 90 High Street, Bovingdon.

Demelza will be studying from September at the prestigious Wales International Academy of Voice in Cardiff with world famous tenor Dennis O’Neill and will attend master classes with opera stars such as Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, who is honorary president of the Academy. So far she has raised over £5,000 of the £9,000 needed for her tuition.
