The cinema’s marketing director Jon Nutton said: “Empire Extra brings the excitement of live events and stage productions from around the world to the big screen, and we’re delighted to announce three more eclectic screenings for February.”

Kicking off the month is the RSC Live production of Love’s Labour’s Lost, beaming directly into the Jarman Park multiplex on February 11. Directed by the respected Christopher Luscombe, one of the great Bard’s earliest comedies is reimagined in summer 1914.

In the play, the King and his friends take an oath to avoid the company of women for three years, just as the Princess of France and her ladies-in-waiting arrive, presenting them with a severe test of resolve. This production delights in championing and then unravelling an unrealistic vow – perfect to get you in the mood for Valentine’s Day.

Following on February 24 is the Royal Opera House production of Der Fliegende Hollander (Live), conducted by Andris Nelsons.

Wagner’s first masterpiece explores damnation and redemptionas a captain is forced to sail the seas for eternity unless released by the love of a woman and the lonely girl who longs to save him.

In a poptastic change of pace the final live showing for the month comes from chart-topping boyband of the noughties and comeback kings Backstreet Boys, whose nostalgic ‘Show Em What You’re Made Of’ can be seen via satellite on February 26.
