Speaker’s village festival date

Organisers of a village festival are putting the finishing touches to this weekend’s programme of events.

The Edlesborough Festival 2013 will run from Friday to Sunday at the at 800-year-old St Mary’s Church in the village, which is no longer used for regular services.

The festival will include a varied programme of activities and events. Friday daytime will see art and flower arranging workshops. In the evening a lone bagpiper will herald the start of the musical events. South Beds Concert Band will perform at 7.30pm. Speaker of the House of Commons and Buckingham MP John Bercow will formally open the festival at 3pm on Saturday when choirs will perform. The evening is party time with live music, food and drink. Sunday sees more choir music, local musicians and a peal of bells followed by Songs of Praise. More information at www.edlesboroughchurch.org.uk
