A feast for the eyes with Ferrari Festival
A Ferrari feast is being held to raise money for a new sports pavilion in memory of a superb sportsman. The Ferrari Festival and Italian Market will see over 60 Ferrari’s , a couple of Supercars and some vintage vehicles drive through Berkhamsted.
The drive will start from Berkhamsted School’s Haresfoot site at 11.30am on Sunday August 23, taking in the High Street before ending at the Castle Campus and Quad, where from noon until 4pm visitors can enjoy the festival.
In addition to the spectacular cars on show attractions will include an Italian Market with Italian ice cream, jewellery, fashion, art, photography, a raffle, a quiz and tombola.
And for those who don’t want to miss the Belgian Grand Prix, there will be a chance to watch it live on a big screen in Dean Hall at the school.
People are invited to sponsor a Ferrari or even to ride in one during the parade.
To sponsor one of the cars people can pay £50 to have an A4 laminated poster advertising their business, or their own name or their child’s tied to the front of a Ferrari. To ride in the parade and sit in one of the Ferrari’s the cost is £25.
The event is being held to raise money for a new pavilion on the Chesham Field at Berkhamsted School and is being organised by ambassadors for The David Case Pavilion Campaign. One of the organisers is Nigel Chiltern-Hunt, an old boy of the school and currently the chairman of the Ferrari Owners Club.
David Case was a pupil at Berkhamsted School and played in many teams at a number of sports. He died at the age of 18 when he was involved in a car accident while on his way to a hockey match.
David had two brothers and they, and his family, have donated £250,000 in his name to convert the existing pavilion into a first class facility for future sportsmen and women both at the school and for the local community.
The pavilion will have a lift and disabled facilities.
The campaign is aiming to raise £1.5m through events and donations from current parents and pupils, former students, local people and businesses.
Entry to the festival at the Quad will be £2.
