Multiple World Champion Mr van Barneveld expressed his excitement and said: “I’m really looking forward to this one. It is a fantastically strong line up and I’m honoured to be a part of it. It really will be a gladiatorial battle at the Colosseum, and I hope to come out on top. All the players really enjoy taking darts to different places and we can promise that the fans will be entertained.”

Darts is the UK’s largest indoor sport and regularly sells out arenas across the country. It is regarded as one of the best nights out in terms of entertainment as well as sporting spectacle. And it appeals to a huge audience demographic with men and women of all ages watching, attending events and participating in one of the world’s fastest growing sports.

Watford Colosseum theatre director David Mansfield said: “In terms of Darts at the Colosseum, this is certainly a first for us in recent years, certainly of this level and scale of event.

“There is something unique about darts events, they are quite unlike anything else we have here at the venue. I think it’s fair to say they have a fantastic atmosphere - the Colosseum is a large venue and the front section nearest the stage will consist of round tables for the VIP seats, behind which are the popular trestle tables. Seating will also be available in our Circle so we are anticipating a big audience for our inaugural Watford Darts Masters.

“The question I’ve been asked most since we announced the event is whether we’ll have enough beer - our hospitality manager Fiona will be ordering extra in to make certain we don’t run out!”

The event starts at 7.30pm on Saturday April 2nd next year. Tickets cost from £28.50 (including booking fee) and are available from www.watfordcolosseum.co.uk or call the box office 01923 571102.
